Anxiety Therapy in Adelaide
Anxiety can feel exhausting. Constant worry, racing thoughts, physical tension and avoiding situations that once felt manageable can begin to affect every aspect of life. At Insightology, Ryan Eyre provides evidence-based anxiety therapy for adolescents (14+) and adults in Adelaide, helping people better understand anxiety, develop practical coping strategies and regain confidence in living a meaningful life.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a normal human experience that helps us respond to uncertainty and potential threats. However, when anxiety becomes persistent, overwhelming, begins interfering with work, relationships or everyday life, it may be helpful to seek professional support.
People experiencing anxiety often describe feeling constantly "on edge", finding it difficult to manage worrying thoughts, avoiding situations that feel uncomfortable, or noticing physical symptoms such as muscle tension, a racing heart, or disrupted sleep. While these experiences can feel overwhelming, anxiety is highly treatable and many people find therapy helps them regain confidence and improve their quality of life.

How Therapy Can Help
Therapy aims to understand the factors that are maintaining anxiety rather than simply reducing symptoms. Together, we identify patterns of thinking, behaviour, and emotional responses that may be keeping anxiety going. Using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT and Schema Therapy, treatment focuses on building practical skills, increasing psychological flexibility, and helping you gradually return to the activities and relationships that matter most.
FAQ
-
What does anxiety therapy involve?
Therapy can look a variety of ways. However, some directions it can take is understanding patterns of thinking or behaviour that maintain anxiety, somatic or body based approaches to manage the physical symptoms of anxiety, exposure therapy, and behavioural experiments to slowly integrate skills to real-world situations.
-
How long does anxiety treatment usually take?
This is dependent on a variety of factors. Many clients feel relief within a few sessions, where as others talk of improvement after a prolonged period engaged in treatment. Completing the full 10 sessions on a Mental Health Plan before reassessing progress, improvement, or future treatment is usually a good guide.
-
Can therapy help if I've had anxiety for years?
Absolutely. Sometimes finding the right therapist fit can make all the difference, rather than a particular tool or strategy.
-
Do I need a referral?
Referrals can be provided by your GP. They can also issue a Mental Health Treatment Plan that affords you 10 rebated sessions each year. Rebate information can be found on the Fees page of the website.
-
Do you offer Telehealth appointments?
Yes. Telehealth appointments are provided using Zoom, where a link is sent to you before a session commences.
-
How do I know if I should see a psychologist?
When anxiety starts to interfere with general functioning, such as work, socially, and personally, tends to be an indicator that therapy might be beneficial. Anxiety does not have to be debilitating or severe to warrant treatment.
Anxiety is one of the many areas supported through Insightology's psychological therapy services.
